Mid Atlantic Sim Center Press Release

Mid Atlantic Sim Center Ltd, a newly established helicopter training organization in Iceland, and Indra signed an agreement for the supply of a Level D AS350 Full Flight Simulator earlier this week. The new simulator will be the first Level D AS350 Full Flight Simulator in Europe and will service both the Airbus AS350 B2 and the AS350 B3e (EASA/FAA certified). The equipment will be up and running in the Mid Atlantic Sim Center state of the art new training facility in Reykjavik, Iceland in the first quarter of 2016. The parties have as well agreed to cooperate on an additional simulator to service the Airbus AS355 NP which also will be the first simulator in the world for that helicopter model.

Mid Atlantic Sim Center will be an Approved Training Organization (ATO) with the ability to deliver aviation training courses under the highest quality standards for competitive prices.
The opening of the new training facility in Reykjavik will support the new EASA regulations that stipulate the use of simulators when available. This is in line with the EHEST and IHST objective to reduce the civil helicopter accident rate by 80 percent by 2016.

It is the aim of the Mid Atlantic Sim Center to become a leading provider of state of the art full flight simulators, certified for both Europe and the United States.

With the Level D certification, AS350 customers can incorporate the simulator into their training programs and receive training credits. The AS350 Level D FFS with NVG certification training can provide complete training experience for customers in a variety of missions including Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS), business aviation, offshore and utility work, both for initial and recurrency training.

The simulator shall be equipped with a full-motion platform and is convertible from AS350 B2 to AS350 B3. It has a full cabin for "true" Crew Resource Management (CRM) training and features VEMD, NVG, auto pilot, FLIR Star Safire III (including hand controller, TV and IR mode), AeroComputers moving map, and a SpectraLab SX-16 slaved searchlight. The AS350 Level D FFS provides training options for aircraft emergency procedures, CRM, NVG, Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS), and Airborne Law Enforcement (ALE). After the training period, flight crews will review their training experience at the Debriefing Station, which doubles as a Tactical Command Console for Chief Pilots, Unit Commanders and Incident Commanders to direct the parameters of the simulation.
