Dubai Airshow Opens Sunday, Expects To Break Records
Excitement is mounting ahead of the 2017 Dubai Airshow, which starts on Sunday, with Emirates Airline widely expected to announce a follow-on order for Airbus A380s. That could prevent Airbus from having to close down production of its superjumbo flagship sooner than planned. The biennial event is being held from November 12 to 16 at a permanent show building adjacent to Dubai South Airport (also known as Al Maktoum International) at the Dubai World Central industrial zone.
Organizer Tarsus F&E Middle East is expecting 72,500 trade visitors and some 1,200 exhibitors. The static park in front of the main show building is expected to feature more than 160 aircraft including two Airbus A380s, the Sukhoi Superjet 100 and the Dassault Rafale. The business jet contingent will include the Gulfstream G650ER, Airbus ACJ319, Boeing BBJ787, Bombardier Challenger 650 and Dassault Falcon 8X.
Three airshow display teams will wow the crowds this year: China's PLAAF air force team, Russia's Knights and the UAE's Al Fursan. As well as the Gulf Aviation Training Event (GATE) on Monday, the show will include for the first time conferences on space, cargo and UAS, as well as an Airport Solutions Dubai conference and exhibition.
AIN will publish daily print on-site Dubai Airshow issues on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, as well as four daily special e-newsletters with news from the show. Additonally, real-time news and videos from Dubai 2017 will be available on AINonline.
