Fra min korrespondent Thorbjørn Amundsen i Vung Tau, Vietnam, har jeg mottatt følgende:
A Vietnamese millitary aircraft crashed during a training flight on Saturday, slightly injuring a resident and damaging a house in the central province of Binh Dinh.
The pilot of of the MiG21 aircraft bailed out after receiving permission from the provincial military headquarters, said Nguyen Ngoc Minh, a military officer based in Binh Dinh.
Bui Thi Cu, 50, was hit by the debris as she worked in the field. The crash also burnt and collapsed the eaves of the home of Bui Van Nghia.
The VnExpress news website quoted officials from the Air Defense and Airforce Command as saying on Monday that the accident was caused by engine malfunction.
They said Captain Tung, the pilot, had noticed some problems and radioed HQ, asked for permission to bail out, which was granted.
Maskinen var en Mig 21PF som du også ser bilde av over. Det er tatt av undertegnede i 1995 på flymuseet i Hanoi.
