AW101, AW159 Cast in James Bond's 'Skyfall'
AgustaWestland has announced that the AW101 and AW159 Lynx Wildcat will play a role in the latest James Bond movie, “Skyfall,” which is due out Friday, Nov. 9. Eon Productions, which produces the British film series, used AgustaWestland test pilots to perform flight sequences—which took close to 15 hours to rehearse and film—for the movie. AgustaWestland technicians also modified the helicopters for filming and provided maintenance support. AgustaWestland variants may grace the screen again, as the manufacturer and Eon are considering teaming up for the 24th Bond movie. Actor Daniel Craig, who plays agent 007, has previous experience with AgustaWestland helicopters as he and Queen Elizabeth “parachuted” from an AW139 during the Olympic opening ceremonies in London this summer.
