Airbus has issued these photos of MSN3 in Cochabamba, Bolivia. The development A350XWB is in Bolivia for a series of high altitude tests at Cochabamba (8,300 feet above sea level) and La Paz (13,300 feet).
"The aim of these trials is to demonstrate and validate the full functionality of engines, systems, materials as well as to assess the overall aircraft behaviour under these extreme conditions," says Airbus.
Performance data will be collected from take-offs with all engines operating and simulated engine failures.
The autopilot will also be tested during landings and go-arounds.
Airbus has logged over 800 hours in almost 200 test flights by both MSN1 and MSN3.
