U.S. Coast Guard helicopter pilots abort missions after laser incidents
in southeast Michigan
CLEVELAND, MI -- U.S. Coast Guard officials are
reacting strongly to two recent acts of suspected mischief that forced
helicopter pilots to abort their missions.
It's called "lasing," pointing
at or tracking aircraft and boats with a laser pointer.
Though they come
in various colors, U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Third Class Chrstopher Yaw of
the 9th District in Cleveland says green, because of its wavelength and effect
on night vision equipment, is the most dangerous.
