An intended order for 100 A320-family aircraft by China Aircraft Leasing will likely feed the growth of new Chinese carriers and perhaps cover the shortage of orders placed by the country’s big airlines.
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by the state-affiliated company includes 74 A320neos, Airbussaid. The balance comprises current-generation versions: 16 A320s and 10 A321s.
China Aircraft Leasing is focused on the local aircraft market. Although there is no guarantee that the aircraft will end up with Chinese airlines, two factors are creating domestic opportunities for lessors, especially in the narrowbody market.
