Sun ’n’ Fun Airshow Kicks Off Tomorrow in Florida |
The 41st annual Sun ’n’ Fun International ly-In and Expo opens tomorrow at Lakeland (Fla.) Linder Airport, and the show promises something for every aviation enthusiast up until it closes on Sunday evening. According to show organizers, there are more than 500 exhibitors booked this year and the number of aircraft coming in for the event is estimated at 10,000, ranging from ultralights to light business jets such as the Phenom 100E and 300 that Embraer is showcasing at its exhibit area (MD-006A).
There are also hundreds of aviation seminars and workshops on tap, as well as town hall meetings with FAA Administrator Michael Huerta on Thursday and Rep. Sam Graves (R-Mo.), the co-chair of the House General Aviation Caucus, on Saturday.
In addition, afternoon aerial displays will feature the Breitling Jet Team, marking the start of its inaugural U.S. tour; the USAF Thunderbirds from Thursday through Sunday; warbirds; vintage aircraft; SubSonex’s personal jet; and various other airplanes. Night airshows will also be held on Wednesday and Saturday, with the latter show featuring fireworks.
