Reports out of Hollywood say Tom Hanks has been picked to play Capt. Chesley Sullenberger in the movie adaptation of the Miracle on the Hudson pilot's autobiography. Variety reported late last week that Hanks is in final negotiations to play the lead in a movie that will be directed by Clint Eastwood. Hanks has a long list of hit film roles, including as Commander Jim Lovell in Apollo 13. The working title is apparently Miracle on the Hudson and there has been no word on who might play First Officer Jeff Skiles. Sullenberger wrote the autobiography called Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters immediately after the Jan. 15, 2009 ditching. It traces his childhood and early career as a military pilot and the lessons learned about life then and through his career as an airline pilot. |
