Airbus Group has partnered with engineering giant Siemens to develop hybrid-electric propulsion systems that could power small airliners in the 2030s. The major joint project, for which the companies will bring together a team of around 200 people, aims to demonstrate the feasibility of various hybrid-electric propulsion systems by 2020. Work will be based in Ottobrunn, Germany, where Airbus plans to establish its E-Aircraft System House.
