F-35, Legacy 500 Set To Make Farnborough Airshow Debuts
The 2016 Farnborough International Airshow starts on Monday, with the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (view AIN's microsite for complete coverage and videos) expected to be the star of the show with its debut there, alongside Embraer’s KC-390 military transport and E2 regional jet, also making their show debuts, as is the Embraer Legacy 500. Another major highlight will be Boeing celebrating its centenary.
The airshow runs from July 11 to July 17, with the first four days being trade days, a Friday “Futures Day” and two weekend public days. The number of aircraft in the static display is expected to be 94, including the F-35.
On the business aviation side, the show organizer told AIN, “We have strong support here. The HondaJet will be at the show, with [UK dealer] Marshall Aerospace, and Diamond is bringing three aircraft. Dassault is bringing a Falcon 7X and 2000LX, and we have four slots for Gulfstream.” Also present will be the Pilatus PC-12, Cessna Caravan and Viking Air Twin Otter 400.
The flying display is set to start on Monday morning with a fly-by of the F-35 with the UK’s Red Arrows jet display team, and the F-35 will fly again in the afternoon’s main display.
As always, AIN will publish daily print editions at the Farnborough Show. You can also find all the news, plus exclusive video reports, from Farnborough at AINonline and in our e-newsletters.
