First Lockheed Martin Super Hercules Rolls Off Production Line

Lockheed Martin has officially “rolled out” its LM-100J Super Hercules, the company says. After coming off the production line in Marietta, Georgia, the aircraft is headed for the flightline, with first flight slated for this spring.

"The LM-100J program has exceeded all expectations in moving from an idea to a reality," said George Shultz, vice president and general manager of Air Mobility & Maritime Missions at Lockheed Martin. " The FAA has been an essential partner in this aircraft's production and we look forward to continuing to work together as we move into the LM-100J's critical flight test phase."

 

Lockheed Martin has filed for an FAA civil type certificate update. The LM-100J is the ninth production version of the Super Hercules aircraft.

An updated version of the L-100 Hercules, the LM-100J is set for multi-use. This includes oversized cargo transport, oil dispersion/aerial spray, oil and gas exploration, mining logistics operations, aerial fire fighting, medevac, search and rescue, and more. The two-pilot cockpit features a communication, navigation, surveillance/air traffic management (CNS/ATM)-compliant integrated digital avionics suite with a head-up display (HUD).
