Narrative:
The aircraft impacted open field terrain southwest of Daytona Beach International Airport (KDAB), Daytona Beach, Florida. The airplane sustained substantial damage and the two occupants onboard received fatal injuries.
Witnesses saw a wing fall off a plane before it crashed. The wing was across Tomoka Farms from the crash scene. 
One of the occupants was a student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
A school news release said the passenger was a pilot examiner from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.
