EASA To Host Second GA Safety Conference
|
Registration has opened for the 2018 EASA Safety Conference on General Aviation,
scheduled for November 6 and 7 in Vienna, Austria, coinciding with the
country’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The event marks
the second time EASA's annual safety conference has focused on general
aviation. The first such conference took place in 2014 in Rome.
The draft agenda includes opening
remarks by Austrian minister of transport and EASA executive director Patrick
Ky, followed by panel discussions on: the future of GA; what EASA has
achieved for GA over the last five years; more affordable modern aircraft;
innovative technologies in GA; sharing the airspace; new business models in
GA; and a “new vision for GA and the GA Roadmap 2.0.”
On announcing the event, EASA said
the agency and the European GA community have “relentlessly worked at making
general aviation regulations simpler, better, accessible, and more
straightforward. Many waypoints of this action plan [the EASA GA Roadmap]
have been achieved, but we need to keep moving. We need to promote safety
together, and we need to better cooperate at all levels in order to
revitalize European GA, and evolve and develop the sector to face the future
in a positive spirit.”
