Narrative:
The aircraft, an experimentally Kent D. Byerley built Van's RV-4A, experienced a loss of engine power and a subsequent impact with open field terrain during the attempted return to the departure point of Ottawa Executive Airport (Z98), Zeeland Township, Michigan.
The airplane was destroyed and the two occupants onboard were fatally injured.
