German air traffic management startup Skyroads is joining Supernal’s Airspace Management Consortium as one of three new members tasked with developing an airspace operating environment for the advanced air mobility (AAM) industry.

Formerly known as D3 Technologies AG, Skyroads provides software and hardware solutions for airspace management and air traffic control. The company joins U.K.-based unified traffic management (UTM) provider Altitude Angel, and U.S.-based UTM company OneSky in the industry working group.

Supernal, which was formed to lead Hyundai Motor Group’s urban air mobility division, launched the consortium in June to act as a resource for the AAM industry, as well as help international policymakers create common operating and design standards.  “The development of Skyroads is based on a philosophy of interoperability,” said Achim Kostron, chief commercial officer of Skyroads, in a press release. He said Skyroads’ system is what original equipment manufacturers, such as Supernal, are looking for in an intermodal urban air mobility ecosystem. “As we share a vision and mindset, we are pleased to partner with Supernal as a member of the consortium.”

Since 2019, Skyroads has created partnerships with several players in the industry, including Manta Aircraft, Flynow Aviation, Deep Blue Aviation, and Varon Vehicles, among others. In April, Skyroads became a member of the Canadian Advanced Air Mobility Consortium (CAAM).
