Dallas Airshow Victims Identified; This ‘Tragedy Affects Us All’


All five crew members on the B-17 and one in the P-63 were killed in the accident, which took place at the Dallas Executive Airport.

  • Captain Terry Barker, Captain Len Root, Major Curtis Rowe, Kevin Michels and Dan Ragan have been named as the five crew members on the B-17 while Craig Hutain was on the P-63 Kingcobra aircraft
  • The two historic planes collided in mid-air at the Wings Over Dallas airshow Saturday afternoon 
  • Videos posted online show the B-17 passing below the P-63 and entering its blind spot as the Kingcobra was banking left, so it would not have been able to prepare for the impending crash
  • The Kingcobra collided with the bomber, tearing it apart as the larger plane split in half and crashes in a ball of fire nearby, horrifying spectators 
  • Barker and Root had both served as captains at American Airlines while Hutain had been a captain at United
