Som du ser er maskinen på bildet britisk registrert. NOTAR (No Tail Rotar) systemet så lovende ut, men slo aldri helt an. McDonnel Douglas og Hughes jobbet hard for å kapre markedsandeler, men forgjeves. (Red.)

ANAHEIM,
California—Six parties have expressed an interest in purchasing the MD902
Explorer helicopter type certificate, the CEO of MD Helicopters says.
Mesa,
Arizona-based MD has been seeking a suitor for the MD902 after concluding that
reestablishing production of the rotorcraft—which used MD’s distinctive No-Tail
Rotor (NOTAR) technology to reduce noise and improve safety on the ground—would
be too expensive. The type had been popular with emergency medical service
operators including London’s Air Ambulance.
“We
have been looking for a potential buyer that could bring the MD902 back into
production and get it back on its feet,” MD Helicopters’ Brad Pedersen said on
the eve of HAI Heli-Expo here on Feb. 26. “We [MD Helicopters] do not have the
time or the capital, but it is going to take some investment,” Pedersen said.
Talks
with the parties were exploratory, Pedersen said, but he was hopeful that an
announcement could be made “in the next month.”
