Croatia has
officially expanded its defense capabilities with the purchase of eight
additional UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters from Sikorsky, a subsidiary of
Lockheed Martin, through a U.S. government Foreign Military Sale.
This
acquisition brings Croatia’s Black Hawk fleet to a total of 12 helicopters,
significantly enhancing the country’s self-defense and regional security
capabilities.
“We deeply
value Croatia’s continued trust in the Black Hawk helicopter, which is operated
by the U.S. and more than 35 other nations, including NATO allies, offering
unmatched global and regional interoperability,” stated Hamid Salim, Vice
President of Army and Air Force Systems at Sikorsky. “Croatia’s decision to
acquire eight more of the latest generation UH-60M Black Hawks for its Armed
Forces, tripling its fleet, will support ongoing modernization efforts and
strengthen the Balkan region’s ability to deter current and future threats.”
The UH-60M
Black Hawk is renowned for its versatility and reliability, capable of
performing a wide range of missions. These missions include troop transport,
border security, counter-terrorism, medical evacuation, search-and-rescue
operations, resupply or external lift, and combat support.
The UH-60M
Black Hawk helicopter is a modern and highly capable platform, known for its
advanced avionics, enhanced survivability, and overall mission flexibility. The
aircraft’s multi-role capabilities are expected to significantly boost the
operational readiness of Croatia’s Armed Forces and contribute to the
collective security of the NATO alliance.
The decision
to enhance Croatia’s Black Hawk fleet aligns with the country’s broader
strategy to modernize its military forces and ensure it can effectively respond
to a variety of security challenges. The additional helicopters will provide
the Croatian Armed Forces with greater flexibility and capacity to support
national and regional security operations.
