Polen iverksetter NATO Artikkel 4

Det står ikke noe om USAFs øvelse utenfor Andøye hvor en B-2 tester nytt presisjonsmissil, eller øvelsen ved Setermoen med Black Hawk helikoptre  fra USA. 

Artikkel 4

er en av fjorten artikler i Den nordatlantiske traktat (el. Atlanterhavspakten) som danner grunnlaget for NATO-alliansen. Artikkelen lyder som følger: «partene vil rådslå med hverandre når som helst en av dem mener at noen parts territoriale ukrenkelighet, politiske uavhengighet eller sikkerhet er truet.»

Denne artikkelen gir medlemslandene mulighet til å gi uttrykk for sine meninger, samt dele sine standpunkter med resten av alliansen. På denne måten fungerer artikkel 4 som NATOs kanal for konsultasjon. Gitt at NATO er en konsensus-drevet organisasjon er konsultasjon blant medlemmer en sentral del av NATOs beslutningsprosess.

Credit: EPA/Shutterstock Some 19 Russian drones entered Polish airspace overnight, Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said. Polish and Nato aircraft were scrambled and airports shut. Tusk said at least four drones were shot down, marking the first time Russian drones have been downed over Poland. Russia's top diplomat in Warsaw said claims his country's drones entered Polish airspace were "groundless". The drones were part of the latest aerial attack by Moscow on Ukraine. The country's President Volodymyr Zelensky called the escalation an "extremely dangerous precedent for Europe". The key question for the continent, writes security correspondent Frank Gardner, is whether or not this was a deliberate act by the Kremlin to test Nato's response.
