Credit: Reuters President Trump has suggested some TV networks should have their licences "taken away", as he backed broadcast watchdog, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), over the suspension of late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel. "They give me only bad publicity [and] press," he said. Kimmel's show was pulled off air after FCC chief Brandan Carr, a Trump appointee, criticised the host's remarks on the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Legal scholars say the Constitution's first amendment would prevent the FCC from revoking licences over political disagreements. But a former Jimmy Kimmel Live! writer told the BBC there was an atmosphere of fear in the writers' room.
