Zelensky is on his third visit to Washington since January. Credit: Reuters Ukraine's president will plead for more military assistance  from the US in his meeting later with Trump in the White  House. But Trump's two-and-a-half-hour phone call with  Putin is bound to put a damper on Zelensky's optimism,  my colleagues John Sudworth and North America editor  Sarah Smith say. They note a familiar pattern: "Every time  Trump grows increasingly frustrated with Putin's  intransigence over Ukraine, he is then placated by a   conversation with the Russian president." The purchase  of long-range Tomahawk missiles, which would allow  Ukraine to strike deep into Russia, will be at the heart of   today's talks.
