All, So sad to hear of John’s untimely passing. He will be missed. He gave so much to his home organisation, IFALPA, his community and aviation safety. Fondly remembered. Greg From: Maureen and Frank Santoni <sesixth2@outlook.com> Sent: Saturday, 1 March 2025 2:48 pm

In memory of John Kristoffersen

John Kristoffersen, our dear friend and colleague, chairman of the Norwegian Pilots' Association's Aviation Safety Committee, passed away suddenly on Saturday 22 February. One of the warmest hearts in Norwegian aviation suddenly stopped beating.

John began his long flying career in the air ambulance service in the autumn of 1994. He flew missions to save lives and transport the sick for 23 years, out of the bases Alta and Tromsø. A service and a job that leaves its mark and that gets a special place in those of us who have practiced and lived it - also John spoke several times warmly about this time and the importance of the job.

In 2018, John went to Svalbard and flew Coast Guard assignments with Dornier, among other things, until he retired early as a pilot.

- "No as I am retired", he often said when it was at its worst in the federation world with large and several issues that had to be handled at the same time. A retirement unlike any other. John has always been involved in trade union work and aviation safety work in addition to his flying career. He sat for several years as Lufttransport Flygerforening's accident investigation representative, local runway safety team and later in the Norwegian Pilots' Association's HUPER section (human performance). Here he worked both nationally and internationally, and quickly became a name that was recognized far beyond our country's borders.

In 2023, John took over as chair of FSIK, the aviation safety committee, in NF.

His competence, work capacity and ability to say what many people think, but do not say for various reasons, made John a fantastic resource and one to be trusted.

Now that spring is getting brighter, and perhaps the big work projects were completed, John was looking forward to being able to go down to his beloved Italy. A small place where he had also found friends with his open and honest northern Norwegian personality. That was perhaps his dream, when he would one day retire for "real"; to just live in the moment, philosophize with a good glass of red wine in hand, and look out over the Italian landscape.

You then went in far too early for landing, long, yes far too long before our flight plans dictated. John; You will be missed, but never forgotten!

Fly, fly off where the sky is always blue,

Up and off from the turbulent and grey.

Days of sunshine and nights reflected in the Northern Lights,

Twenty-foot tall

-They are the memories now.
