Trump is expected to sign into law a bill forcing the US justice
department to release its documents on Epstein, after it was passed by both chambers of Congress.
His signature will mark the final action in what has been an abrupt
change in his position, and "a rare instance of Republican politicians
pressuring Trump into action... rather than the other way around",
writes Kayla Epstein. It's not the only example of his
influence being tested, with his efforts to encourage Indiana to redraw congressional maps to favour Republicans hitting a potentially critical
roadblock on the same day. Yet as Kayla notes, Trump has successfully
navigated fallouts and internal opposition before. |
