Boeing has
selected Ferra Engineering to produce parts for its High Altitude
Anti-Submarine Warfare Weapon Capability.
“Local HAAWC production with Ferra means more skilled jobs in Australia
and deeper sovereign manufacturing capability,” said Bob Ciesla, vice president
at Boeing’s precision engagement systems.
“This partnership serves as a practical investment in national defence
and regional security aligned to Australia’s Guided Weapons and Explosive
Ordnance Enterprise sovereign objectives.”
The High Altitude Anti-Submarine Warfare Weapon Capability (HAAWC) is
designed so that it can be deployed from Boeing’s P-8A maritime patrol aircraft
and engage with submarines from a higher angle, increasing the operational
effectiveness and safety of subsea missions.
This contract builds on existing partnerships between the two companies
and represents Australia’s continued efforts to establish a sovereign defence
industry.
Ferra Engineering has continued to supply components to a range of
Boeing manufacturing programs, such as the MQ-28 Ghost Bat and the F/S-18F
Super Hornet, AH-64E Apache and P-8A Poseidon. Three years ago, the companies
signed together a memorandum of understanding to produce kits for the Joint
Direct Attack Munition’s both long and extended range.
“We are honoured to continue our 17-year-long partnership with Boeing
on the HAAWC program,” said Aaron Thompson, CEO of Ferra Engineering.
“This contract not only reinforces our commitment to delivering
high-quality, Australian-made defence solutions but also highlights the
importance of collaboration in advancing our nation’s defence capabilities.
“Together, we are paving the way for innovation and excellence in
aerospace manufacturing.”
Boeing has continued to remain actively involved in the Global Supply
Chain program, enhancing opportunities for local Australian defence companies
to engage with major industry partners and increase their global supply chain
presence.
