Reports from early February 2026 indicate that over 1,000 Palestinians have been killed or injured due to repeated violations of a ceasefire agreement brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump.

While the ceasefire—part of a "20-point peace plan"—officially went into effect on October 10, 2025, hostilities have persisted. Casualty data updated as of February 1–2, 2026, details the impact of these violations:
  • Total Casualties Since Ceasefire: At least 509–520 Palestinians have been killed and approximately 1,405 have been injured by Israeli fire since the October truce began.
  • Recent Escalation: On February 1, 2026, intense Israeli airstrikes killed at least 30–31 Palestinians, including children, across Gaza City, Khan Younis, and Nuseirat.
  • Diplomatic Response: Foreign ministers from Jordan, UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt issued a joint statement on February 1 condemning these "repeated violations" as a dangerous escalation that undermines the peace plan. Kuwait's Foreign Ministry also formally condemned the attacks.
  • Rafah Crossing Status: Amid the violence, the Rafah border crossing partially reopened on February 2, 2026, for highly restricted medical evacuations as part of the deal's first phase. Al Jazeera reported that only a handful of patients were permitted to leave on the first day.
The Gaza Health Ministry notes that the total death toll since the conflict began in October 2023 has now surpassed 71,700.
