Introduction of Emerging Technology Aircraft in Civil Airspace |

As
new types of Emerging Technology Aircraft (ETA) enter the market,
including Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), eVTOL aircraft, Advance Air
Mobility (AAM), and supersonic/hypersonic aircraft, etc., it is crucial
to ensure their safe and sustainable integration into existing airspace.
These aircraft must exceed current safety and environmental standards,
without compromising the efficiency or security of conventional
operations. A globally harmonized regulatory framework is essential to
maintaining air traffic flow, minimizing environmental impact, and
upholding public trust in aviation. This paper outlines key
considerations for safely incorporating ETA while preserving airspace
integrity and operational efficiency. |

Pilot Assistance Programs |
|
IFALPA
is committed to fostering inclusive Pilot Assistance Programs that
enhance the health, wellbeing, and professional performance of airline
pilots. These programs address medical certification, critical incident
response, substance use disorders, training support, professional
standards, and overall pilot wellbeing. By providing structured Peer
Support and professional guidance, these initiatives help pilots manage
personal and professional challenges, contributing to both individual
resilience and overall flight safety. IFALPA encourages Member
Associations to implement these programs with strong backing from
regulators and operators to ensure their success and effectiveness. |

Inflight Incapacitation Training for Flight Crews |
|
Flight
crews must be trained to recognize and respond to inflight
incapacitation to ensure the safety of the aircraft. This training
should include classroom instruction and recurrent simulator practice,
emphasizing the identification of both obvious and subtle
incapacitation. Strict adherence to standard operating procedures,
continuous monitoring, and effective crew communication are essential
for early detection. Crews must be prepared to take immediate
action—maintaining control of the aircraft, assisting the incapacitated
member, and reorganizing cockpit duties to ensure a safe landing. IFALPA
recommends all operators implement comprehensive incapacitation
training programs to enhance flight safety. |
