Frontier places two pilots, four flight attendants on paid leave due to
Ebola issue
Frontier Airlines has placed two pilots and four
flight attendants on paid leave for 21 days following the revelation that a
passenger was symptomatic with Ebola when she flew on a Frontier flight on
Monday.
The Denver-based airline said it is going "over and above"
guidance from the Centers of Disease Control which stated the crew was safe to
fly.
Frontier is also keeping the aircraft used on Flight 1143 from
Cleveland to Dallas/Fort Worth out of service and is removing all of the seat
covers and carpets in the immediate vicinity of the passenger seat.
Environmental filters will also be replaced.
"These steps were taken out
of concern for the safety of our customers and employees," said Frontier chief
executive David Siegel in a letter sent to workers late last night. "Steps such
as removing the aircraft from service, removing aircraft seat covers and carpet
and replacing environmental filters as well as placing the crew on paid leave
were not requested nor mandated by the CDC."
Frontier said the aircraft
is expected to be returned to service in the next few days.
