[Avionics Today 10-24-2014] Sagem introduced a prototype of its new active Side Stick Unit (SSU) for civil airplanes and helicopters at NBAA this year. The side stick controller features dispatch reliability, a design that can stand up to all types of contingencies, and an architecture supporting the real-time adjustment of force feel laws.
The system facilitates pilot and co-pilot coordination and the management of stressful situations through the stick-shaker/stick-pusher function and the synchronization between all side stick units.
Sagem’s SSU has been tested over the last few months in close collaboration with airline pilots and test pilots from major airplane and helicopter manufacturers, confirming flight safety and crew training requirements.
