- NextPrevClick on the first miniature picture 1 of 12Airbus launched a long-range version of the A321neo, aimed at replacing the Boeing 757, in January with a commitment from Air Lease Corp. (ALC). With an increased maximum takeoff weight of 97,000 kg (214,000 lb.), the A321LR can fly 206 passengers up to 4,000 nm. ALC subsequently firmed its order for 30 aircraft, with deliveries beginning in 2019.Photo:

A year that was not about major orders for commercial aircraft, 2015 was overshadowed by the loss of 374 lives in the suicide crash of Germanwings Flight 9525 and suspected bombing of Metrojet Flight 9268. But there was positive news with the rollout of China’s Comac C919 and a Quebec government funding lifeline for Bombardier’s C Series.
