Russian Helicopters has received type certification of its medium, multi-role Mil Mi-38 and plans to start serial production of the transport helicopter in 2016 for the Russian market, the company said. The Mi-38 was designed by the Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant; Kazan Helicopters is assembling fuselages for the serial-production aircraft.
The head of Russia’s Federal Air Transportation Agency, Alexander Neradko, presented the type certificate to Russian Helicopters CEO Alexander Mikheev today during a ceremony at he Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant. The helicopter has been designed to Russian AP-29 standards, which the company said equate to European Aviation Safety Agency Certification Specification 29 and U.S. Federal Aviation Regulations Part 29.
Flight certification testing involved two Mi-38 prototypes fitted with Klimov TV7-117V engines, which had achieved certification earlier this year.
