Helikoptersikkerhet - R&W

(Red.)

The International Helicopter Safety Team (IHST) has published results from its third annual survey of civil helicopter operators to discover where and what safety improvement initiatives are being implemented globally. In the survey results, IHST ranked the top 13 segments within the industry where it found operators are implementing safety initiatives.
Survey results lead to the following rankings of the top 13 areas of civilian helicopter operations where end users are implementing safety improvement initiatives, with the list lead by air ambulance operators, followed by law enforcement and offshore/oil operators rounding out the top three.
Along with the survey results, the IHST also listed the seven "best opportunities" available to prevent helicopter accidents, after analyzing data and information from more than 1,000 different helicopter accidents. Based on its analysis, here are the top seven things operators can do to prevent helicopter accidents:
  • The implementation of safety management systems (SMS),
  • A structured program for initial and recurrent training,
  • The implementation of health and usage monitoring systems (HUMS),
  • The implementation of flight data monitoring (FDM) programs,
  • Structured programs to fully comply with manufacturers’ recommended maintenance practices,
  • Installation of wire-strike-prevention systems,
  • Usage of night-vision systems when warranted.
