Icelandair celebrates the arrival of its first 737 MAX 8 with a special flight of landscape photography
Reykjavik - Icelandair has celebrated the arrival of its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 with a special route over the landscapes and most remarkable sites of Iceland, inviting its passengers to take spectacular photos.
The aircraft registered TF-ICE was delivered to the Nordic airline operator on March 4, 2018.
On April 17, the guests of the special flight, "Iceland By Air," were welcomed into the airline's first 737 MAX 8 named after renowned Icelandic landscape photographer Páll Jökull. All planes of the company are named after an Icelandic volcano or a spectacular natural site in the country, but the new 737 MAX 8 christened Jökulsárlon.
The aircraft carried out a tailor-made flight to the north to see Akureyri from the sky, the city where Icelandair was founded in 1937.

Passengers also had the opportunity to observe the Trollaskagi mountains, the Eyjafjord fjord, the Jökulsárlon glacier lagoon, Reykjavik, and Hvalfjordur fjord.
Welcoming 16 new aircraft into Icelandair's fleet over the next four years marks our determination to improve our customer experience consistently. The Boeing 737 MAX lineup will allow us to continue to strengthen our network and offer our customers the choice and flexibility in this highly competitive environment, said airline CEO Björgúlfur Jóhannsson.
