NASA’s X-57 Electric Aircraft Demo Begins Ground Runs

NASA’s much-delayed X-57 Maxwell electric propulsion demonstrator program has taken a step forward. The first ground runs of the modified Tecnam P2006T light aircraft took place with electric motors and propellers installed. The X-57 is being modified in stages, and the latest tests involve the Mod II configuration, in which 95-hp electric motors replace the P2006T’s two Rotax piston engines.
