NEW DELHI—India will buy 10 more Boeing P-8I Poseidon long-range maritime patrol aircraft through the U.S. foreign military sales program. The $3 billion purchase was cleared by the Indian Ministry of Defense and forwarded to the Defense Acquisition Council for final approval, a ministry official said on the eve of the visit of U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to New Delhi. India signed a $2 billion contract in January 2009 for eight P-8Is to replace Russian Tu-142M (Bear) maritime patrol aircraft.
