Incident: Delta A333 over Atlantic on Dec 28th 2020, engine trouble
A Delta
Airlines Airbus A330-300, registration N810NW performing flight DL-262 from New
York JFK,NY (USA) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (France), was enroute at FL380
about 700nm southsouthwest of Keflavik (Iceland) when the crew decided to divert
to Keflavik reporting a problem with the #1 engine (PW4168, left hand). The crew
requested to descend to FL320 and set course for Keflavik, the turn to Keflavik
was approved by Oceanic Control within a minute, however, the request to descent
took more than 15 minutes due to a lot of traffic around that needed to be moved
out, the aircraft continued to maintain FL380 in the meantime. Finally the
aircraft descended to FL290 and landed safely on Keflavik's runway 01 about 2
hours after the decision to divert.
The
engine is being replaced.
The
aircraft is still on the ground in Keflavik about 62 hours after landing.
