Som du muligens husker var Braithwaite US Ambassador to Norway inntil for ca ett år siden da han fikk jobben som NAVSEC av Trump. Patchen han bærer er fra VP 17, en tidligere P-3C avdeling. I følge de kilder jeg har på avdelingen (via deres FB side) har han ikke utmerket seg på noen måte. Saken ble tipset meg av min observante korrespondent på Byhaugen i Stavanger. Evenes blir en "trang" flyplass. Tipper at det blir mangel på oppstillingsplasser på apron. Ikke se bort i fra at Andøya blir populær slik som nå, hos USNavy.(Red.)

“But there are other options that we have to be able to operate out of other airfields in that part of the world, in the Arctic. Of course we have our partnerships with our NATO allies: there’s a new air station opening up in Evenes, Norway, that can support both the P-8 and the Joint Strike Fighter, and we’ve been working with the Norwegian ministry of defense to coordinate on the U.S. Navy making use of that airfield."
