Airbus predicts need for 28,000 aircraft in next 20 years

In its latest Global Market Forecast, Airbus expects that there will be a requirement for 28,200 aircraft, both passenger and freighter, over the next 20 years with a total value of $4 trillion. Of those, said Airbus, approximately 27,300 will be passenger aircraft valued at US$ 3.7 trillion.
Predicting an average growth rate in passenger demand of 4.7 per cent during the next two decades, 10,350 aircraft from the World’s fleet will be replaced by new efficient models. “By 2031” it said “the world’s passenger fleet will have expanded by 110 percent from slightly over 15,550 today to over 32,550. In the same period, the world’s freighter fleet will almost double from 1,600 to 3,000 aircraft”.

Single aisle aircraft are expected to be the best seller, with some 19,500 being delivered.
