F-35 - Følger Australia Canada?

Regnskaps- og revisjonsfirmaet KPMG er godt etablert i Norge. Som du kanskje la merke til så sponset de Nobelkonserten. Flyet blir neppe noe billigere for oss enn for Canada og Australia. Nå ser det ut til at det er regningssvarende for Australia å kjøpe 25 Super Hornets og Growlers samt å la flåten fly til tidligst 2020. Vel, det kan være en ide for Norge å kikke på regnestykket igjen. Bruk gjerne KPMG!

 

In a joint announcement issued Thursday morning in Australia, Minister for Defence Stephen Smith and Minister for Defence Materiel Jason Clare provided an update on planning for Australia’s future Air Combat Capability, particularly in light of potential capability gaps amid JSF delays. Australia will now send a Letter of Request (LOR) to the United States seeking cost and availability information for up to an additional 24 Super Hornet aircraft through the UnitedAustra States Foreign Military Sales program.

Meanwhile, stories are beginning to break Wednesday night in Canada on the highly anticipated KPMG report on what many see as Canada’s mismanaged JSF selection. A CANADIAN PRESS article says the report confirmed the position held by many critics: the F-35 is unaffordable. However, the results of the KPMG report are expected to increases the chances that Canada will revisit its fighter acquisition process and open competition. Boeing welcomes the opportunity to provide Canada with information and data about the F/A-18 Super Hornet, which offers unequaled affordability, capability and availability, with a known cost and schedule. A transparent, competitive process would allow Canada to do a complete comparison against validated requirements, and to make a fully informed decision that is in the best interest of all stakeholders.

 

Finally, media reports out of France that Brazil has grounded its fighter choice until its economy recovers is perhaps less ground-breaking news as it is an indication of the French public and media’s disappointment that a favorable Rafale decision would not be announced during Brazilian President Rousseff’s visit to France this week. It remains Boeing’s understanding that a competition decision has been deferred until 2013.
