Airbus A350 XWB Ready for Next Phase of Testing
Airbus said its first A350 XWB test aircraft — MSN001 — is structurally complete and is ready for the next phase of ground testing at its facility in Toulouse, France.

The MSN001 recently completed a number of indoor ground tests, including stability tests for the aircraft's movable components such as ailerons and landing gears extraction/retraction. The A350 team will now move outdoors for fuel tanks testings, pressure testing of the fuselage and radio equipment testing.
The company also recently announced its plan to drop the planned lithium-ion batteries—influenced by the recent Boeing 787 issues—and revert back to nickel cadmium batteries to power the A350.
Airbus plans on launching the first A350 test flight in mid 2013, with a planned entry into service in 2014.
