Babcock Gets S-92s For North Sea Offshore Transport
Babcock Mission Critical Services Offshore Ltd. received two Sikorsky S-92s. The aircraft were delivered in an Antonov 124 transport aircraft from the manufacturer's Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, plant to the U.K.'s Glasgow Prestwick Airport. They were then transferred to Babcock's hangars in Aberdeen.
Commenting on recently imposed restrictions on EC225s and AS332L2s as a result of April's Norwegian offshore helicopter crash, Babcock Managing Director Michelle Handforth said the S-92s will continue to transport those working on offshore rigs in the North Sea.
The aircraft are expected to be operational after completing flight tests in the next couple weeks, said Babcock.
