ANA Confirmed as First Japanese A320neo Operator

[Aviation Today 08-05-2014] ANA Holdings has firmed up an order for 30 A320neo Family aircraft (seven A320neo and 23 A321neo), setting it on course to be the first operator of the re-engined A320 in Japan. For this new fleet, the airline selected the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G-JM engines. Airbus also includes CFM International’s LEAP-1A as a standard engine option for the A320neo.
Fabrice Brégier, Airbus president and CEO, said the order is an important one for the French airframe manufacturer as he sees expansion in Japan as one of the company’s “main ambitions for the next decade.”

Airbus’ first A320neo flight test aircraft is scheduled to begin ground testing soon in preparation for its first flight and scheduled entry into service in late 2015. Deliveries to ANA will begin in 2016.
