Boeing Launches Pilot Development Program
[Aviation Today 08-01-2014] Boeing has announced it’s upcoming comprehensive global training program for pilots to help meet the forecasted demand of 500,000 pilots over the next 20 years. The program should provide all the training a pilot needs, from basic theory through qualification as a commercial jet first officer. Representatives from the airframe manufacturer explained the new program at the at EAA's AirVenture show in Oshkosh, Wis.
The Boeing Pilot Development Program is designed to provide essential training to help meet the rising demand for qualified pilots, taking cadet pilots through initial screening and ab initio training through its robust training network, including a competence evaluation in aviation English, foundational aviation knowledge, and migration from practical ground and flight training to an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) — provided by Boeing subsidiary Jeppesen.
“Boeing has been talking about this demand for years — the Pilot Development Program is our answer, and an investment in the future of aviation personnel,” said David Wright, director of the Boeing Pilot Development Program.
