Sad to
report that the only airworthy F-86A Sabre in Europe
is now boxed up and ready
to leave these shores for a new
life in the United States. It really has been an
incredible
aircraft on the display circuit over many years and although
going
back ‘home’ to be very well looked after, it will be
greatly missed.
This particular one as an A-type holds the distinction of being
the
oldest jet powered aircraft still flying in the world, a real
credit to the
owners and pilots who have looked after her
over the years.
See this lovely video that captures just
how significant the
aircraft was in her time and truly part of ‘engineering
heritage’, just like XH558.
