Global Eagle Entertainment (GEE) and low-cost airline Norwegian Air Shuttle have introduced Live TV as a commercial service aboard the airline’s flights from the U.S. to the Caribbean. Norwegian flights from Boston’s Logan International Airport, New York’s JFK, and Baltimore-Washington International Airport to both Martinique and Guadeloupe will offer live television through May 2016.
The Wi-Fi-equipped Norwegian aircraft will feature two TV channels, Bloomberg Television and the NFL Network. The free live television service will complement the free Wi-Fi that passengers already enjoy aboard all Norwegian’s short-haul flights in Europe and between the U.S. and the Caribbean, using GEE’s AirConnect In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) platform.
“This live television trial with Global Eagle is a great way to mark the first Norwegian short-haul flights from the U.S. to the Caribbean and a natural extension of our milestone live television trials announced across Europe last month,” said Thomas Ramdahl, chief commercial officer for Norwegian.
