South Korean Public Service Provider Increases Super Puma Fleet

South Korea’s National 119 Rescue Headquarters has ordered two more Airbus Helicopters H225 Super Pumas, the manufacturer said. The new acquisition brings the operator’s all-Airbus fleet up to six aircraft.

The new Super Pumas would primarily be used for search-and-rescue operations. Although Airbus said the aircraft would have the flexibility to reconfigure for firefighting and air ambulance missions.

"The National 119 Rescue Headquarters has been operating Airbus helicopters for over 20 years and we are happy to see how our helicopters have continued to play a vital role in the agency's mandate to protect and save lives," said Marie-Agnes Veve, head of North Asia for Airbus Helicopters. "The addition of the two H225 to the agency’s fleet illustrates our customer’s confidence in our products and their performance. Given its versatility and endurance in all-weather conditions, we know the H225 will continue to be a capable workhorse for the agency’s missions."

The operator already has two AS365 N2s and two H225s. Both of the newly ordered Super Pumas are to be delivered by the end of 2019.

An 11-ton-category twin-turbine utility helicopter, the H225 is the latest member of the Super Puma family. It can carry up to 24 passengers.
