The aircraft crashed about 150ft of the runway, close to a treeline, at Foley Municipal Airport (5R4), in Foley, Alabama, when practicing takeoffs and landings. The aircraft sustained substantial damage and the two occupants on board, an instructor and her trainee, received critical injures. The student pilot eventually passed away due to the injures sustained in the crash.
