Joe Biden didn’t say much because there’s a lot he
doesn’t know. Some of what he does know must remain classified.
But the US president finally broke his silence on
Thursday about the bizarre discoveries of unidentified aerial objects last
weekend that US fighter jets shot down. Biden said that it remains unclear what the three
unidentified objects were, but that nothing suggested that they were related to
Chinese surveillance programs -- unlike the spy balloon seen drifting
over the US earlier in the month. "The intelligence community's current
assessment is that these three ones were most likely balloons tied to private
companies, recreation or research institutions studying weather or conducting
other scientific research," Biden said at the White House. It’s impossible to
say for sure since the wreckage of objects downed over Alaska, Lake Huron and
Canada's Yukon Territory still haven’t been found.
