Democrats drew a lobster to squeeze Republicans in Virginia

Voters in Virginia get the opportunity for an early referendum on the Trump administration Tuesday. They could adopt temporary new partisan congressional maps to juice the state's Democratic US House delegation.
They'll vote in a special election to amend the state's constitution and temporarily redraw congressional maps, aka gerrymander them, in Democrats' favor.
With the current map, Virginia has sent six Democrats and five Republicans to Congress. If the new map is adopted, it could easily send 10 Democrats and one Republican. The maps would expire after the 2030 Census. |
