Stort tap for NTSB

Dette var overraskende. Hersman har vært tøff overfor omgivelsen, ikke minst press fra politikere og fra FAA f.eks. gjeldende for sertifiseringen av B787.

Hersman Resigns From NTSB

[Aviation Today March 11, 2014] Deborah Hersman announced her resignation as chairwoman of the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and will become the president and CEO of the National Safety Council.

Hersman will be replaced by the board's vice chairman, Christopher Hart on April 25. The resignation was announced as the NTSB continues investigating the cause of battery fires on Boeing 787s, the July 2013 fatal Asiana Airlines crash and an ongoing search for a Malaysia Airlines 777 that disappeared from radar surveillance while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing over the weekend.

"I look back at the hundreds of investigations and recommendations that have been issued during my tenure at the NTSB, and I have seen the landscape of transportation safety improve before my eyes," Hersman said in a blog post announcing her retirement.

Hart will serve as the acting chairman until a permanent replacement is named.
